Do you understand what it means for God to be your Father?

Life with God your Father is a grand, hope-filled adventure. Your heart needs the awareness of Him as Father, and it thrives in this awareness.

You were made for the Fatherhood of God—to be His child, to act like His child, to seek comfort in His arms, to do valiant deeds He set up for you long ago (Eph. 2:10).

Because He is your Father, all these things and many, many more are available to you today:

His affection, His joy, His unending supply of provision, His miracles, His ability to bring life to dead things, His power, His knowledge, His inerrant foresight, His unshakeable hope, His love that never dries up or fails.

THAT GOD is your Father.

Here are just a few brief ideas of what His Fatherhood means for you today. Read the following verses and declarations aloud.

1. My Father is my safe place.

Praise the Lord; praise God our savior!
For each day he carries us in his arms. (Ps. 68:19 NLT)

For my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. (John 10:29 NLT)

Declaration: My Father loves me so much that He carries me in His arms. He wants me to be as close to Him as possible. That is where I am right now: in my Father’s arms. His grip around me is strong; nothing can snatch me away from Him.

2. My Father is my salvation.

My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge;
My savior, You save me from violence. (2 Sam. 22:3 NASB)

Declaration: I declare that God is my salvation. He will not leave me struggling with this issue: ___________, but He is going to save me, because He’s my Father and that’s what He does.

3. My Father is abundant life for me.

A thief has only one thing in mind—he wants to steal, slaughter, and destroy. But I have come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expect—life in its fullness until you overflow! (John 10:10 TPT)

Declaration: I declare that my Father is abundant life for me. He is MORE than enough for me. He is blessing, not cursing, for me. He is abundance, not lack, for me. He is life, not death, for me. Because He is my Father, I will have more life and greater abundance than I think possible.

4. My Father has good plans for me.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jer. 29:11 NIV)

Declaration: I declare that my Father has not forgotten a single word of the promises He’s made to me. He has good plans for me and no plans to harm me. His plans will give me great joy, and I will have abundant hope for the future, because He’s with me and caring for me.

Father Statements

Consider the following statements and pray about them. Where does God want you to see His Fatherhood more clearly?

  • Because You are my Father, I know You will protect me (Ps. 18:6–7).

  • Because You are my Father, I know I will have what I need (Job 38:41).

  • Because You are my Father, I know I will have more than I need, so I can help other people (2 Cor. 9:8).

  • Because You are my Father, I expect my life to reveal Your abundance in every area (John 10:10).

  • Because You are my Father, I expect good things to happen to me (Eph. 3:20).

  • Because You are my Father, I know that if You ask me to wait for something, the wait will be totally worth it (John 2:10–11).

  • Because You are my Father, Your love for me will never falter or fade. I will always have this security, and my heart will never be without Your love (1 John 4:16).

Your Heavenly Father Rejoices over You

Graham Cooke says, “Allow your heart to be touched by God’s excitement for you.” Child of God, do you sense His excitement for you today? It is a real thing, birthed in His love.

Quiet your heart and let His excitement well up inside you. He is happy because you exist.

Yahweh your Elohim is with you.
He is a hero who saves you.
He happily rejoices over you,
renews you with his love,
and celebrates over you with shouts of joy. (Zeph. 3:17 NOG)
